As we prepare to represent the highly/profoundly gifted (HG/PG) community at the upcoming 51st Annual NCAGT Conference, Allison and I are filled with enthusiasm and anticipation as we gear up to present on a vital, yet often overlooked topic that holds significant importance in the educational landscape: "SEL Requires True Peers: Bridging Brilliance and Belonging for the Profoundly Gifted." Our presentation will shine a light on the intricate dynamics of social-emotional learning (SEL) as experienced by HG/PG students, emphasizing the critical need for genuine peer relationships in their developmental journey.
Our session will delve deeply into the unique developmental hurdles that HG/PG students and their families face. These challenges can range from social isolation and emotional intensity to the struggle for acceptance in both academic and social settings.
